Dorothy J. Yanoshik, 87, of Lofty, passed away peacefully on November 25, at the Manor at St. Luke Village, Hazleton. Born in Lansford on July 4, 1935, to Luka and Mary Scrbacic. She was a graduate of Lansford High School and was a seamstress for many years. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were brothers Steve and Luke Scrbacic; and sisters Katherine Puskar, Helen Coladonato, Agnes Erbe and Lucy Reece. Joan A. Bucknovic, 86, of McAdoo, passed away suddenly Sunday at her home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Church of All Saints, 21 N. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were brothers Francis, George and John and baby sister Rita. John G. Lucas, 70, of West West Terrace, Branch twp., passed away peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2022, with his family by his side at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.

Born in Kelayres, he was the son of the late Angelo and Susan Damiano.

The last member of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by brothers Wasil and Joseph Aponick, and by a sister, Dolores Tomcavage. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Aponick II, and by a granddaughter, Dianna Aponick. He was also an excellent cook, could speak fluently in movie quotes and had a love / hate relationship with Philadelphia sports teams. He cherished his annual fishing trips with his dad and his regular kitchen-talks with his mom. His brothers were his best friends and he loved playing with his nephews and nieces more than anything.

A former member of Mahoning Valley Country Club and Valley Country Club, John enjoyed playing golf, and a friendly game of poker. He most enjoyed celebrating the lives of his grandchildren, visiting his family in Maryland and time spent with his many friends he made over the years. Sonia Sachuck, 84, of Kelayres, passed away Sunday at her home. Born in McAdoo, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Sachuck. Sonia was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, McAdoo, where she was enthusiastically involved with the parish food sales and activities. Prior to retiring, she was employed at McAdoo Manufacturing.

In Loving Memory Of

Born in Coaldale, PA on December 24, 1955, Rick was the son of the late Harry and Anna Bachman. A 1973 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he served in the Marines during the Vietnam War. Rick worked on the assembly line at the former KME in Nesquehoning, PA prior to retiring in January of 2017. Rick enjoyed being a mechanic but adored his kids and grandkids.

One recent saying he shared was "Know when you need to go slow and steady, and when you need to go bombs away". She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed. Jim was born in Quincy, Illinois on October 31, 1947, a son of the late Marie Weyand and Gale Weyand. He was the husband of Esther M. Weyand with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on July 2nd, 2023. Jim was of the Catholic faith and had worked construction, last having worked for Lok-Weld.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his sister Michele Winchilla of Drifton; nieces Sarah and Natalie and nephew Robert; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Peter always looked forward to family holiday dinners, and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephew. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Edward J. Lucas Sr. in 1983. Preceding her in death were her husband, Robert L. Novatnak; great-grandson, Brandon Novatnak; and brothers, John, Albert, Thomas, Joseph, William and Richard Palko.

She was very active with the Republican Party and was currently serving as a Borough Councilwoman for the town of Shenandoah. She adored her dogs, Dixie, Dakota, and Caesar, along with her 4 feline friends. Born in Newtown on July 20, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Mae Gauntlett. She attended Reilly Township schools and worked in the garment industry. David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City is in charge of arrangements. Stephen is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Borrell, of Pottsville, and Melissa, wife of Vincent S. Meyer, of Pottsville.

Lachette, 67, of Silverbrook and formerly of Beaver Meadows, passed away peacefully Wednesday at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lucille Rashko.
